Let’s build a Formosan Black Bear exhibit with custom Chinese theming including a meticulously built moon bridge and custom roofs, Silv thought. It’ll be fun, Silv thought.

…alright, despite the struggles of making roof sets with thousands of tiny pieces, I enjoyed this habitat build. Not sure to what extent I succeeded in my mission to balance authentic nature for the animal and authentic culture for the guests – the habitat is slightly too distant from much of the paths, guest/animal interaction is limited and I really overestimated just how small the female bears are – but this is definitely my personal fave build of the Beta. And it was a good way to really get to know the detailing potential of some of the game’s scenery pieces; although here’s to hoping (and predicting) that the full release will feature a complete set of Far East Asian building pieces.

And with that said, thanks for the beta Frontier, and thank you all for watching this short series. We’ll meet again at the game’s release ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. 26:47 Just wanted to let you know that I think this shot is art! This is the first video by you that I watched and I was captivated and inspired the whole time through. Keep it up, man! This turned out beautiful 8)

  2. Already a new video?? Did not expect but will not complain.

This looked sooo great, I love the sightlines over the lake, the bridge to the side, all the trees and bushes around, fantastic! Excited for more ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, I could feel the pain of all placing all those EEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  3. I cant describe the feeling I get while watching your videos, it is absolutely stunning seeing your builds and creations! A big thank you from Switzerland, your videos mean a lot to me ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. 20:22 Are you sure it wasn't "gifted"?
But I do think that this is my favourite exhibit you made, because it's a more unknown animal.

Enรจh, Silv. Ben je nou naar die Belgen overgelopen??

P.S. Goed zo met dat spioneren!, xD

  5. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am not sure how I got to your videos, I'm not even a video game player. But your knowledge has made this fascinating.

  6. Greetings from Taiwan! Apparently, Portuguese named a bunch of places Formosa(Beautiful) when they first discovered them. According to wiki, species found on these islands are often call Formosan. We're probably the only one that calls our island Formosa. So I guess most of the time Formosa is related to Taiwan, anyway.

  7. Wowoooo ~~~ Silv's wonderful building ~~~ btw ~~~
    ๐Ÿ’™ Actually
It's real name is called : "Formosan black bears"
๐Ÿ’™ The Bear are endemic to Taiwan.
    ๐Ÿ’™ Not related to Chinese/China

  8. Hi Silvarret, I have a question regarding animal populations. In another youtube video about planet zoo, I noticed how in the zoopedia it says the amount of animals are usually in one group and that they are not happy otherwise. Is this ment to be in the zoo or how they live in the wild? Because I feel its highly unrealistic that you need 20 hippos, or 50 gemboks in your zoo.

  9. One thing to add is that most Chinese garden buildings will have seats along the fences.

Also the last shot with the snowy bridge looks really like one of the 10 famous scenes in Western Lake in Hangzhou (่ฅฟๆน–ๅๆ™ฏ) Broken Bridge Thin Snow (ๆ–ทๆฉ‹ๆฎ˜้›ช) to be exact. (Altho your bridge isn't broken).

  10. Speaking as a Hongkonger, the Chinese garden is awesome. Newer gardens in Taiwan, Korea, and Japan sometimes will borrow themes from each other. So don't worry about the foliage! Less so for Hong Kong, we don't build Chinese gardens so often as we used to. Not sure about China.

  11. I am your Taiwanese fan!
"Formosa" , which means beautiful in Portuguese, was named by the Portuguese in the 16th century after they saw the beautiful island of Taiwan.

  12. lol, bears are the shit–nothing wrong with bears! I like these more unique animal species…and of course your amazing architecture to go with them. Can't wait to see you unleashed in Sandbox.

  13. So part of the reason you saw animals for 10,000 credits was mostly because it was people trading via the discord or for a content creator. During the beta on the discord we would have someone list an animal for really high prices (like a peafowl for 5000 credits) and someone who had the bankroll to fund that would buy it so that the person without credits could get credits to buy animals. There was also a content creator who was out of credits due to everything dying (not sure who it was) and they had put up 2 animals for 10,000 credits so that they could buy animals to keep making videos.

I do agree that the market is trash, so many people were inbreeding their lions and putting up 0 fert lions on the market for 1000s. They need to work on a system that prevents inbred animals from hitting the market.

  14. I sure do hope that we get some more Aquatic creatures coming towards the full release of the game, whether it'd be a DLC or not.
Most zoos, or at least the ones I have been to, have had at least some sort of aquarium- which is also Normally where they keep their polar-bears, penguins and such.
I think it'd be cool to have some fish as exhibit creatures or something.

  15. Dude, I think an Icelandic turf house would be an awesome idea for a shelter in Planet Zoo. Just floating the idea by you if you need any when the main game comes out.

  16. I tried to find a planet zoo video making Chinese style habitat today and your video popped up! So lucky. Thanks for sharing your amazing work.๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ
